This image was taken last night at an event in London that I have wanted to go to for a very long time. It was even more amazing than I had imagined it might be and I have some photos I think you are going to enjoy later and maybe a bit of video too.
I snapped the photograph above of John after dark with my new camera. That’s right … my new camera! John gave me a Canon G11 for my birthday. Can you believe it? What a sweetheart thing to do. I’m still learning how to use it, but I have already taken about 3000 photographs since opening it on Friday. I am editing the Saturday photographs down to a more reasonable level and should have them up tomorrow.
Can anyone guess where we might be …
Well it could be an open air concert in London! Hope wherever it is you had an awesome time. 3000 photos , you must of had your finger snapping all the time 🙂
I know were you were so I won’t spoil the guessing fun…but man, that is a nice shot…I heard that camera gets great reviews and I’m looking forward to seeing it in real life. Hope you had a terrific time at your event 😛 ))).
That is an awesome after dark shot…not a lot of noise at all!
Thames River Festival? If I am right I have google to thank, because from the pic I had no idea but when I googled the date and London it came up with the festival. Great photo of John.
Does it have to do with the BBC Proms? Or are those concerts always inside?
Fabulous choice! Canon G11 is a thoroughly awesome camera. I got one a couple months ago and love it! It oversaturates daytime colors a bit for my taste though, so I set the MyColors to “Neutral” to dial it back a bit, and often turn the exposure compensation to -2/3 on lighter subjects too.
Try using the viewfinder for waist-level photography in crowds – you get a child’s-eye view and people don’t have that startle reflex that they do when you hole a camera up at eye level.
A little belated happy birthday! Looks like you have been enjoying yourself London. I think I know where you are in the picture, but I will check back to see if I’m right -the Proms? Watched in on tv and it was awesome. (or was it a week ago, time goes by so fast. Happy B-day for your daughter too.
