This post is going to be a bit funny as we move through it so stay with me until the end if you want a laugh. In the background of this shot you can see me doing what I do most of the time when we’re out on the coast path.
I was taking this photograph while Patrice was snapping the first photo above.
After she handed the camera off to John, I heard him say something about me being in the picture he was trying to take so I decided to get really silly. Now, I don’t usually show you the silly stuff and I need to tell you why. Most of the time you see me smiling and posed in photographs. I’ve always been that way. My mother once said that even as a small child I would always strike a pose when the camera was aimed in my direction. Rarely were these silly poses and I think I was particular even then about how I thought I should look in a photograph.
People that know me will tell you that I am particular about what photos of me are allowed on the internet. Yesterday, I showed you a hair-raising shot of me that I would normally keep private because I knew the ones below were worse. John would say I’m pulling faces. There’s rarely record of me doing this kind of thing, but I’m working on laughing more at myself and letting you have a chuckle too.
Here’s where John indicated I was messing up the shot. That sounded like a challenge to me so …

Good grief. I prescribe more fountain walking and resultant bad hair days for you! As long as you are silly in real life, that’s OK. And if posting about being silly, which I’m sure was a big step, is a success in your eyes, may we only encourage you. But then let John get his picture. Although I suspect that if you really are silly in real life, then this pic is more representative than a more conventionally posed one. So i guess he as to take 2? 🙂
OMG, LOL, what a hoot! good for you, with good friends, having a blast; show your stuff girl, funny face and all. Sounds like a memorable trip!
I think life in good old Blighty is rubbing off on you! It’s actually one of the things I love most about the Brits, they don’t take themselves too seriously and can laugh at themselves. Loved your silly faces! 🙂

I fully support all attempts at silliness, but share your other instinct to keep it somewhat private! (I do like seeing your silly side though. It looks fun, and must have made John laugh)
My sister sent me a link to silly pregnancy pictures and demanded that I take one for her. So I got a plastic gun and a watermelon and dressed in yoga pants and a tank top (a la Ninja warrior) to pose with both in the backyard. I was fine sending it to her and even sent it to the guys in my department at work, but can’t bring myself to put them up on Facebook.
Stunning and very funny photographs that brought a smile to my dial 🙂 I also have a set ‘smile’ that is triggered automatically when a camera is likely to be pointed in my direction. I rarely like the way I look when I’m caught unawares (usually eating something or pulling a silly face!). Good on you for ‘letting go’ and having a giggle! And thanks for sharing!!
